Futures Recruitment services are supporting a long standing client in the Marine industry for a Part and Equipment Sales Advisor to join the business Chandlery within the local Marina. Ideally we are seeking candidates with some experience in the marine industry. Knowledge of engine parts and equipment to support our busy service department is essential.

The successful candidate will need to have previous experience in the marine leisure trade with good knowledge of either Volvo Penta, Mercruiser, Mercury, Yamaha or Yanmar, preferably all. Experience with marine manufacturers, such as Vetus, Aquafax, Dometic, or Jabsco is also preferential.

The job is mostly desk-based, including assisting the technicians, service team, and customers as well as ordering, maintaining stock, warranty claims, and booking in orders. However, other tasks include quality checking workshop jobs, training course placements, boat deliveries, and boat shows as required.

The chandlery desk operates all sales via Kudos, experience is desirable. Also required are other soft skills such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and the use of online systems with associated suppliers for ordering, looking up parts diagrams, registering engines, inputting claims, and so on.

Customer service skills are essential, and you must be able to work as part of a team. We roll out regular promotions and offers within store and online, and enthusiasm to sell is key.

Key Responsibilities for the Parts and Equipment Advisor:

  • Providing guidance to customers regarding items in the chandlery
  • Offering sales advice on phone orders
  • Sourcing parts for serving or repairs for the maintenance department
  • Ensuring the stock levels are maintained on essential parts relevant to the time of year
  • Drive sales of the chandlery
  • Handling inventory
  • Processing orders via the Kudos and internal CRM.
  • Build rapport with suppliers

The job is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.45 AM to 5.45 PM with alternate Saturdays required, usually with the Monday taken off in lieu. There is a possibility of more flexible hours - do enquire if you have a request. 20 days holiday, plus 8 bank holidays - however, there is a requirement for some further weekend work with shows, open days, covering staff, and a rota for bank holidays - time received back in lieu.

Advertised salary is dependent on the final candidate and level of experience. Bonus scheme to be discussed at interview.
