Futures Recruitment Services are seeking a self-motivated and driven individual with a background in Risk or Risk Advisory to join our clients growing Risk Management Team. The Senior Risk Manager role offers significant exposure to senior management, an opportunity to learn about the business from the ground up with excellent career development opportunities.

This role is open for it to be based either in Southampton or London.

Key Responsibilities for a Senior Risk Manager:

  • Act as the lead for Risk projects forming part of the Risk Plan, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that deliverables are of a high quality.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, business contacts and senior stakeholders and be seen as an escalation point for risk related queries.
  • Attend, as required, board meetings, senior committees, and forums as a Risk representative.
  • Provide independent advice, insight, and constructive challenge to senior stakeholders in the first line of defence on the management of risk.
  • Leading thematic reviews and presenting written and verbal conclusions.
  • Undertake ad-hoc independent risk assessments as required to identify the effectiveness of internal controls in mitigating key risks.
  • Involvement in the management and evolution of the Incident Log process overseeing the effective investigation of complex incidents, remediation, proposed mitigating, and the analysis of trends.
  • Support the Group Head of Risk in designing, implementing, and maintaining risk management framework.
  • Develop and implement risk management policies and tools.
  • Driving a strong risk culture and increase risk awareness and best risk management practice across the Group.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry and risk management practices and developments.
  • Work with business units to define risk appetite for new business.
  • Attendance at and in time acting as Chairperson for the New Business Committee.

Skills & Experience required for a Senior Risk Manager:

  • A university degree and / or a relevant professional qualification.
  • Deep technical knowledge and expertise in risk management (risk appetite, key risk indicators, risk and control assessments, incident management).
  • Quantifiable leadership or management experience.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and demonstrable experience in senior stakeholder engagement.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft products including Excel and Word and an aptitude for analytics would be an advantage.
  • Extensive relevant experience, preferably within a financial services environment (candidates with alternative backgrounds will be considered).
